I can finally be able to satisfy my craving for pizza burek. I have fond memories of this dish from my student life in Ljubljana, but since I left the capital and live in a smaller town, there is no good burek pizza nearby.
So I started preparing it at home and I am very happy with the end result.
This photo of the burek is from the first try and looks a bit dry because it was. I have made them several times so far and improved the recipe.
It is really necessary to moisten each layer, I usually just coated it with my hand. And as for the edges, don’t forget to moisten the edges as these like to dry out. After the first attempt at preparation, you will surely get the feeling for the next time if it is not juicy enough. The top layer may still be a little crunchy, which is fine.
