This is for all the chocolate lovers that like to make something different for a dessert. This chocolate salami is perfect for any holiday season and impresses the guests or at least make them laugh. Because you don’t get to see chocolate salami every day, right?

I used plastic kitchen foil to shape and wrap it up, but you can use baking paper too, just seal the edges with a rubber band.

Don’t miss out the step about roasting the almonds, it really makes a big difference in flavor wise.

When your chocolate salami is set, you can wrap it up in baking paper and store it back in the refrigerator for up to a couple of days. Or freeze it and take it out and store in refrigerator the night before you will need it.

Don’t forget to leave it out of the fridge for a couple of minutes before cutting.

Čokoladna salama

Chocolate salami

Cook Time 20 minutes
Servings 2 salamis

Ingredients

  • 230 grams of butter cookies
  • 80 grams of butter
  • 200 grams of dark chocolate
  • 100 grams of almonds
  • 1 dl of whipping cream
  • 1 table spoon of rum
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 table spoons of sugar
  • Icing sugar for dusting the salami

Instructions

  • Take 150 grams of cookies and chop them with a knife to smaller pieces. Remained 80 grams of cookies just blend into a sandy texture.
  • Melt chocolate with whipping cream and butter.
  • Chop up almonds and roast them in a pan just for a few minutes until they start to smell nutty then set aside.
  • Put all prepared ingredients into a bowl. Add pinch of salt, sugar and rum and stir it up until combined and sticky.
  • Take a plastic kitchen foil. Put half of the prepared ingredients on it and shape through it into a salami shape, make sure it is tight and seal the edges with a knot. Repeat making the second salami and place in a refrigerator for a couple of hours until set.
  • Then remove the foil and roll it in some icing sugar, leave it to rest for about 10 minutes (this way it’s easier to cut) and cut thick slices and serve.
